Go Hang - Wisdom Teeth
Go Hang doesn’t share much of their origins, aside from being from Chicago, which is why I dig their music even more. As pretentious and cliche as I (always) sound, authenticity is more enticing than trying to force relatability through oversharing. I speak in riddles and metaphors, I prefer my music and artists to do the same.
Aside from Composer credits on Spotify and their Youtube, there isn’t a who’s-who in the band. They do perform as a full band (and then some), announcing dates and posting their sets on their instagram
Their music has quite an anti-hero journey theme. A victory cry hidden in grotesque, yet timely placed, imagery. I could get that feel of urgency for understanding and redemption. The lyrics reminds me of a lot of Misfits Danzig era with a dash of Pink Guy. Which I never thought I’d actually say, and actually enjoy the unexpected combo wombo.
Their lyrics mention bodily horror meticulously, as a way to express the ugliness of self-reflection and recovery. Go Hang music isn’t in-your-face with its dark humor, and has social commentary fit for a doomer. I felt fulfilled listening to their music, for its lyrical outwardness and unique sound.
Go Hang is on all major streaming platforms. With all the bio of “misanthropic industrial antifolk punk rock”. Perfectly encapturing the overall feel to their unique sound.
They released Lennon, Manson, Etc. back in 2009. On first listen, it gives me a similar feel like Pepper from Butthole Surfers. A feeling of disparity, the grittiness of existentialism and cruel reality of life with a psychedelic twist. Filled with references to the strange connection of The Beatles and Charles Manson.
Their newest release, a three-track (2 songs, with an alternate version) album, Fuck the Fuck Off is the perfect jam for your next Monday Morning commute. It has the right amount of rage and angst without coming off as the average Punisher fan cringe.
Go Hang’s music is rad as fuck. It makes me feel like mainlining Monster and 8-hour energy drinks while doing donuts at the local Arbies at 4 am. A great late-night stoner music or to entertain the homies while pounding claws and breaking jaws (as the saying goes). From: https://medium.com/@SweetTMarie/new-artist-alert-1-go-hang-0ad3c4e09a0d
